Additions to lineup confirm digital net as Canada’s top destination
for programming on holistic health, alternative medicine
What does it really mean to live a healthy life?
As more and more Canadians now realize, taking care of the physical
self through exercise and proper eating is just the beginning of
wellness. It’s every bit as important to look after our mental and
spiritual health – which is one reason why natural, holistic or
“alternative” therapies have found growing numbers of adherents in
recent years.
This season, starting in November, Canada’s One: the Body, Mind &
Spirit channel will expand its slate of health and wellness
programming, offering more content than ever before on holistic
healing and alternative medicine

Thanks to modern medicine, men and women in the West now lead longer

a $60-billion global industry. Many believe that these healing
practices represent the most effective treatment for chronic
diseases like Alzheimer’s and arthritis – and that they may even
help to fight cancer and HIV. So what’s the truth? Do alternative
therapies have a place alongside conventional medicine? In this
provocative three-part BBC documentary series, British scientist
Kathy Sykes sets out in search of answers, embarking on a in-depth
investigation of three popular alternative therapies: acupuncture,
spiritual healing and herbalism. Repeats Saturdays, 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT
